The public meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 10:30 a.m.

    THAT the Board meet in private, the time being 10:30 a.m.

The meeting reverted to a public meeting, the time being 1:02 p.m.

The land recognition statement recognizing Treaty 6 and Treaty 7 territory was read by Grade 8 students from Central Middle School.

    THAT the minutes for Board Meeting January 15, 2025 be approved as presented.

    THAT the agenda for Board Meeting February 12, 2025 be approved as presented.

Superintendent Chad Erickson presented the Education Plan Quarterly Report, which provides a comprehensive overview of the Division’s progress and initiatives aligned with the Division Education Plan. The presentation included examples from Principals Kevin Robertson, Teresa Tataryn, Geannette Lehman, and Darwin Roscoe, who shared strategies from the Education Plan they are using at their schools.

Associate Superintendent of Technology and Information Services Ron Eberts along with the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Learning Services team presented the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Learning Services Report and covered the following topics:

  • Achievement and Completion Assurance Measures
  • Foundational Knowledge & Teacher Capacity
  • Curriculum & Teacher Capacity
  • New Curriculum Support & Implementation
  • Community Connections
  • Student Supports and Cultural Programming

Deputy Superintendent Dan Lower presented the January 31, 2025 enrollment summary, which totaled 11,499 students attending Red Deer Public Schools.

    THAT the Board of Trustees approve the proposed Westpark Middle School trip to Central Florida, United States of America from February 14-21, 2026.

Trustee Sommers had nothing to report.

Trustee Gould provided a verbal report.

Board Chair Nicole Buchanan highlighted a number of activities Trustees were involved in during the month of January and the first part of February.

Superintendent Chad Erickson highlighted a number of activities he was involved in during the month of January and the first part of February.

Chair Buchanan provided a verbal report.

Board Chair Nicole Buchanan and Superintendent Chad Erickson sent correspondence to the City of Red Deer in support of the proposed changes to playground zone times.

The Board of Trustees and Senior Administration commented on events and activities they participated in over the last month.

Chair Buchanan declared the meeting adjournment at 3:25 p.m. with a motion to go back into private.
